The Levine Family $1.5 Million Challenge Grant (Goal Exceeded!)

RAISED: $544,250  GOAL: $500,000

The CHARGING forward campaign is the catalyst for a school-wide transformation that will enhance all aspects of student life every day, both inside and outside the classroom. The comprehensive initiative will have a tangible and lasting impact on the future of Providence Day School.

In a significant and generous expression of philanthropic support, Howard and Julie Levine have created an opportunity to encourage members of the PDS community to invest in the CHARGING forward campaign and maintain its incredible momentum.

The Levine family will match, on a two-for-one basis, any gifts from new investors that include either a capital or endowment component and an Annual Fund designation, as well as any increased commitments from current investors who would like to augment their existing capital or endowment pledge, up to $500,000 by December 31, 2016. The total challenge, at its conclusion, will generate $1.5 million for the CHARGING forward campaign.

Providence Day’s stature and reputation as a progressive, innovative school has been built by an enduring commitment to teaching excellence and a world-class learning environment. In a testament to the school’s lifelong connection to its families and a strong culture of philanthropy, the campus and community has grown considerably over the past four decades. Yet the focus on cultivating future leaders remains at the core of the Providence Day mission.

“We have an obligation to keep this good thing going,” said Howard.  “All of us should be the torchbearers from one generation to the next.”

The Levines were inspired to give to Providence Day as a way to acknowledge the sense of belonging they have felt at the school, and in particular, the excitement their kids have for attending class each day. Their gift will serve to enrich and advance the exceptional caliber of a Providence Day education today and in the future.

“We must seize this critical moment in the school’s history, and carry on the Providence Day legacy.”
– Howard Levine

“We are tremendously grateful to the Levine family for their extraordinary generosity in initiating this exciting challenge grant,” said Cathy Bessant, national chair of the CHARGING forward campaign. “Our hope is that families who are considering investing in the campaign see this as a wonderful opportunity to maximize their impact on the future of Providence Day and rise to the challenge.”

This $1.5 million challenge grant is an initiative within Charging Forward, Providence Day’s comprehensive $27 million campaign. The campaign’s three strategic priorities focus on optimizing the teaching and learning environment, growing the annual fund, and doubling the school’s endowment to firmly position the school for the future.
